bl nkofai

An AI-augmented publishing, instructional design and content practice for African education markets, led by someone who still does the work — not just advises on it.
Tagline

AI-augmented,
human-finished.

Practice

Founded by Micheal Goodman. Thirty-five years in publishing and education, across nine African countries.

01 / what we do

The press, at the
speed of software.

Editorial and instructional judgement are human work. Everything around them — collation, structural editing, learning-design drafts, video and audio assembly, indexing, metadata — is where careful AI augmentation buys back months without dropping the standard.

Position

Blink is a small, senior practice built on real production work, not just advice. Its founder spent thirty-five years commissioning, editing and shipping curriculum-aligned materials at real scale across nine African countries — and still builds, not just recommends. Audits and strategic advisory are there when that's genuinely all a client needs.

We don't replace your team. We give them back the weeks lost to collation, formatting and first drafts, and senior oversight on every checkpoint that matters.

02 / practice areas

Ways we
work with you.

"We start every project as an audit. Many stop there. A fixed-fee build and retainer support only happen if you ask for them."

/ 01

Publishing advisory

strategy, audits, roadmaps

A candid, vendor-agnostic look at where your current production loses time, where AI augmentation is safe, and where it isn't — delivered as a written report with a phased roadmap and named owners. Most engagements start here, and many end here too.

/ 02

AI training

publishing, learning & content teams

Workshops and standing coaching for publishing, learning-design and content teams adopting AI tools — what to trust, what to flag, what never to delegate. Built around your existing house style.

/ 03

Manuscript & catalogue

brief → print-ready, backlist revived

When you want hands-on build support: a five-stage editorial pipeline with tracked-changes output, plus automated tagging, ICML conversion and metadata to speed processes.

/ 04

Tooling selection

model-agnostic

Independent recommendations on which AI platforms, editorial tools and integrations actually earn their licence cost. No referral fees, ever.

/ 05

Content creation

video, audio, interactive

AI-assisted video assembly, podcast production, audio clean-up and interactive learning objects — built to the same editorial standard as the print work, for teams who need content in more than one format.

/ 06

Learning-experience design

corporate, NGO & courseware

Learning-experience design — from corporate to NGO training as short stand-alone projects or full courseware with pedagogically sound interactive learning objects.

03 / how we work

Four steps from
brief to handover.

Every engagement runs the same way, and most stop at step one. Short enough to keep pace, structured enough to keep judgement — no surprises, no permanent dependencies on us.

step 01

Audit

Two weeks. We sit with your team, watch a real title, course or asset move through the existing workflow, and write down what we see.

step 02

Design

We design the augmented workflow around your house style and your people — not the other way round. You approve every checkpoint.

step 03

Build

Fixed fee, fixed scope, and only if you want it built rather than just designed. We build the workflow, train your team on it, and run one real piece of work through it under live conditions.

step 04

Handover

Documentation, named internal owners, and a 90-day retainer if you want one. After that, you own the workflow outright.

04 / about

A senior practice
of one — for now.

Blink is led by Micheal Goodman, who spent thirty-five years leading publishing, content development and teacher training across Africa, and now brings that judgement to AI-augmented publishing, instructional design and content work.

“The model writes faster than any editor. It also breaks confidently. The practice is knowing exactly which of those two things is happening, on which page, before it reaches a reader.”

Publishers & staff led

Before founding Blink, Micheal spent fifteen years as Head: Content Development at Via Afrika Publishers, commissioning and shipping curriculum-aligned learning materials with a team of thirty.

Earlier roles took him through publishing leadership across Botswana, Namibia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Angola, Lesotho, South Africa and Eswatini, working directly with ministries of education and international bodies on curriculum and literacy programmes.

New engagements begin with a conversation, not a pitch. Bring a manuscript, a course that needs a redesign, or a content backlog that's been quietly costing you every year.
